Ignyte is a DR engine designed to create application-consistent backups of the entire physical machines, and of the VSS-aware applications, for example Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Hyper-V, SharePoint Server, and others.
It fully integrates with Microsoft VSS and uses available VSS writers for the respective applications to provide more consistent, reliable, and faster 1 backup results.
Thus, we recommend using the Standard DR engine for now.
To use Ignyte, the target machine must be running one of the following Windows versions:
- Windows Vista SP2 or later
- Windows Server 2008 SP2 or later
Before using Ignyte, make sure the following are installed on the target machine:
- Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 Redistributable or later
- Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015, 2017 and 2019
To enable Ignyte, in the CFA Management Console:
Go to Clients > Edit.
Select the appropriate desired client.
In the Disaster Recovery Image group, select Ignyte (beta) in the Engine drop-down list.
From now, all DR Image backups for this client will be created using Ignyte.
Comparing to the Standard DR engine. ↩
