Calculating the upload of a secure online backup is different than just uploading files to the cloud. With compression and encryption, this adds more time to the backup, but it’s necessary to secure the data before and during transmission.
The pause during upload is normal. With large files, OBRM performs a streaming backup that compresses and encrypts 10 MB at a time, and then uploads them.
Other factors that can make online backup slower are:
- antivirus or anti-spyware software
- insufficient RAM
- insufficient CPU power
- heavy disk drive workload
- upload speed is lower than the download speed
- large backup sets with over 100,000 files
- firewall settings
