1. Boot the ISO and when the BareMetal Backup menu appears, select Recovery > BareMetal Recovery and follow the recovery wizard steps.

    Note

Automatic network configuration is used by default when performing the bare-metal recovery. In case it is required to perform manual network configuration before the recovery, go to Support and Tools > Configure Network.

After clicking BareMetal Recovery, the Recovery Wizard opens.

  2. The system configuration is validated with regards to the possibility of processing the Restore, for example, the below warning on the RAM amount appears but it does not block the recovery.

  3. Specify storage location which may be either local or network (UNC) path.

    Note

Choose directly the folder where BareMetal Backup files are located, not its parent folder.

In the following case of choosing a parent folder, the error will appear “Path {path} does not contain any storages or invalid network share credentials was provided”.
  4. If the storage is chosen correctly, select a storage to attach. One folder may be a target for several BareMetal backups. The bottom section of the window shows names of the backed up machines, their backup dates and the number of stored backups or restore points (Session count).

  5. Choose the storage and click Next, and then choose the computer to recover.

  6. The next step will prompt to choose a recovery point to restore the machine to. It is not possible to distinguish whether the points generated by Full or Full plus Incremental backups. It is recommended to use the Thorough integrity check option.

  7. Choose the way how to utilize target hard drive volumes when restoring the BareMetal backup.

These options are self-explanatory the attention should be paid to the fact that some of them delete the existing data from hard drives.

  8. Select volumes to restore and the available destinations.

In case the destinations do not appear in the automatic mode (no unallocated space available), use Manually select destination, but note that the existing data will be deleted on it.

  9. Review the disk partitioning scheme of the machine that will be applied after the restore operation is finished (no changes were commited to the disk yet).

  10. After clicking Apply, the Recovery progress starts.

  11. After the recovery process is finished, select Recovery details, and then click Finish.

  12. The wizard returns to the main page. Click Restart or Shutdown to finish the work with the wizard.

From this point, it is possible to boot the recovered operating system from the hard drive (amend boot sequence in BIOS or Startup Configuration to make the system boot from the hard drive firstly).

    Note

It may happen that the recovered OS remains non-bootable due to compatibility issues and lack of drivers for the hardware. In these cases, “P2P adjust wizard” on the BareMetal Restore disk is used.

  13. Click Next, and then choose the installed operating system.

  14. Choose either automatic or manual approach to adjust the operating system (inject drivers).

  15. Pay attention to warnings appearing on these steps and click Yes after the required operations are done (if manual injection was needed).

  16. Pay attention to the following manual adjustment options.

After finishing the P2P Adjust OS Wizard, the Restore application returns to the main page from where the system can be restarted or shut down.
